Creative and Digital Media

This course gives you realistic experience and training that will help you thrive in any career which uses photography, filmmaking, graphic design, project management or marketing. Your first year covers a broad introduction to creative and digital media, letting you experiment with various formats, channels and tools to find the ones that best suit your skills and interests.

When it comes to succeeding in your chosen specialism, we give you the competitive edge. You will be tackling live projects, often with real clients, designed to build your confidence and comfort in real career situations.

Creative Digital Media

The post-16 Creative Digital Media Diploma (RSL) at Digitech Studio School is a 2-year vocational course. Our course aims to give you the knowledge and skills needed to progress into the exciting world of media, with hands on experience for a variety of sectors and subjects, including Graphic Design, Videography, Web Design, Photography and Sound.

Modelling the format of a client brief, you will complete tasks based on real situations relevant to the media industry. You will develop a portfolio of impressive and beautiful work that will optimise a place in further training, education, or employment.

Dance

Our Level 3 Extended Diploma in Dance is designed to encourage you to develop as an independent dance artist and grow into a confident, creative practitioner. Under Artistic Director Helen Wilson of RISE Youth Dance and a team of professional dancers and choreographers, the course will develop your technical, creative and performance skills.

The course format is similar to that of a dance conservatoire. It has a foundation of Contemporary Dance whilst including diverse styles such as Street Dance (House and Funk) and World Styles (Caribbean Soca and Afrobeats). Ballet is also taught on the course, adding to the wide range of techniques.

Esports

This qualification will provide students with a broad but in-depth understanding of a range of topics associated with the esports industry, mainly focusing on business, sport and creative media areas, meaning students can progress onto various university/employment both inside and outside of esports.

Students will study this course at the BELONG gaming arena competing on a Wednesday in the British esports association college championships in games like FIFA, rocket league and league of legends. Students will access work experience opportunities through Bristol City Football Club, as well as having national and international trips organised within the esports industries.

Film and Television

Film and Television is a competitive industry to get into. But we’re here to tell you that there are lots of ways to get your foot in the door. This course will broaden your view of the industry and help you forge routes through key roles in all areas of film and television production. You’ll be getting your hands on industry-standard equipment to set-up, capture and edit professional level videos and you’ll leave us with a top-quality, two minute showreel that lets the world know you’re out there.

This course is about getting you ready for your career, and part of that is learning professional standards on set, experiencing multiple crew roles and directing actors and crew.

First Certificate in Sport

The BTEC level 1/2 first certificate in sport is a one year programme. The course aims to add breadth to students’ knowledge and understanding of the sport sector as part of their career progression plans. It gives students the opportunity to progress to a BTEC Level 3 programme or into employment in a wide range of job roles across the sport sector. As well as gaining a recognised qualification, students play football 3 times a week representing Bristol City Robins Foundation in English Football Leagues. As part of the programme, students access work experience opportunities through our coaching provision in schools, holiday camps and on BCFC match days. Trips are organised for students to visit other premier league stadiums, as well as international trips abroad to Portugal and Europe.

Games, VR and VFX

Learning how to succeed in the world of games, VR and VFX is about more than just having a technical understanding. It’s about transferring your creative flair and ability using software into the working environment with project management, communication and collaboration. By the time you leave this course, you will have the tools you need to not only build some beautiful digital things, but also to get paid doing it.

This fully rounded course will develop your skills across a number of disciplines, including 2D and 3D illustration, modelling and animation, interactive media and film, games engine programming for VR and visual effects. See your incredible ideas come to life and develop your portfolio with access to industry standard tech and support from experienced course leaders.

Photography Collective

This is a ground breaking approach to photographic and design education. Uniquely, you will come together to form a collective and collaboratively work on industry led projects, putting you in charge of how, where and why it is published, exhibited or screened. This course will help you to build a specialist career in the creative industries and access appropriate entry level roles.

You’ll learn industry relevant skills, knowledge and understanding to progress into jobs, creative sector apprenticeships or related higher education courses, such as our BA (Hons) Documentary Photography and Print degree. If you believe in the importance of creative collaboration and the impact this may have on ourselves and our communities, then this photography course is for you. This two year course is made up of six in-depth projects.

Professional Acting

Our Level 3 Extended Diploma in Professional Acting takes place at Bristol School of Acting, a drama school with a professional ethos and rigorous approach. It will prepare you to think as a professional actor and equips you with the skills to progress to drama school and into the industry. The course runs over two years and takes you through the approaches of Stanislavski, Michael Chekhov, Uta Hagen and Meisner.

The course works towards productions in year 2. These are professionally staged with high production values and you collaborate with working directors, designers and production staff.

The course has a primary focus developing the skills and expertise for students to work independently and progress to employment as a coach.

Sports Media Production

This course puts you on the touchline of a media career with sport at its heart, but gives you a whole kit bag crammed full of transferable skills you can take with you into career paths in creative, social and digital media. You’ll build a broad portfolio in your first year, giving you a robust understanding of the tools of the trade, before focusing them in your second year with a parallel work placement.

You’ll be taking match day photographs, making behind-the-scenes videos, live-streams and working on match day programmes. Your classroom for this course is in Ashton Gate Stadium, with a view of the pitch and by the time you leave this course you will feel confident to step into any media role, especially in the sports industry
