Maths is the cornerstone of the modern world. It is the foundation of sciences, technology and industry, and every student should be allowed to engage with and explore the mathematics that surrounds them in every day life. At Digitech, students need mathematics to support in creation of beautiful art works, help them understand and manipulate computer algorithms and, perhaps most importantly, allow students access to a wide range of opportunities that can be difficult to come by without the necessary qualifications in this subject.
In mathematics at Digitech we:
- engage with mathematics that is useful in everyday life, to give students confidence to go out into the world with a firm grasp of the basics of the subject
- explore pure mathematics to give a broader sense of the scale of mathematics and the thought-provoking nature of the subject
- practice for perfection, allowing students to make mistakes, and to learn from those mistakes to build knowledge and character
- discover the world through the application of mathematics in probability and statistics and use this knowledge to inform their perceptions and analyse critically information presented to them
- develop confidence in mathematics so that every student can make links to and use maths in the wider curriculum they follow
- encourage students to value their own intellects through developing their ability to reason logically and think analytically
We follow the AQA specification in Mathematics, as they are the clearest papers for students to understand, so they can gain the most credit for accurate mathematics as opposed to trying to understand fabricated scenarios that can be prevalent in other specifications.
