Course Overview
You will have the opportunity to explore music through the use of technology. This course is ideal in preparing you for the music industry, as well as improving your creative skills through exploring a variety of musical styles.
What Will I Learn?
Whether you want to gain employment in the music industry or go into higher education, a Creative Music Industry qualification will give you the professional knowledge and skills needed for a career in music. Here at Digitech our Level 3 course for Year 12-13 (Post-16) students follows the Production pathway meaning the core unit is based on music production, with a number of additional units in areas such as composition, live events and entrepreneurship. These are purely coursework/portfolio based units meaning there are no exams for this qualification. This qualification is equivalent to 1.5 A-Levels.UCAS points awarded for this qualification:
- Pass – 24 points
- Merit – 48 points
- Distinction – 72 points
- Distinction* – 84 points

Qualification: RSL Level 3 Extended Diploma in ‘Creative Music Industry’
Students will study a combination of units including core and optional units. These units are:
- Music Sequencing and Production
- Composing Music for Media Destinations
- Podcast and Radio Production
- Working in the Music Industry
- Live Streaming
- Live Event Logistics
- Creating a Social Media Strategy
Career Progression
Students may progress to music colleges such as BIMM, or degree courses in modern music. Many students progress into careers in the music industry, the second largest employer in the U.K.
